Hello!

Hi. I'm John Goldsmith, a retired teacher and would-be voyageur. It's been my dream to explore the

backroads and byways of North America. Why backroads? Unlike the super highways with their mind numbing boredom and soul sucking sameness, backroads are different. The pace is slower, the scenery, more specular, the sites, more engaging and the people, friendlier and more hospitable.  On the backroads, it's as much about the journey as the destination.

Along with my wife, it's my (our) desire to explore some (many) of these byways if for no other reason then the sheer joy of discovering what lies around the next corner or over the next hill and of course, to write about it here in the blog. You are welcome to follow our adventures as we explore the byways and backroads of this amazing land.
